Birthday Bash

Today is my birthday. This is what I got for gifts:

1) The same repeated rash on my daughter this morning. (just what I asked for).

2) A romantic lunch with D'Artagnan. One large drop of tomato sauce on my white shirt.

3) A pulled muscle in my arm from lifting a heavy snowblower down from a truck.

4) A five-year old boy with big blue eyes asking me on a date.

5) Tons of facebook shout-outs! Thank you!

6) my earring landing in the toilet.

7) five funny birthday cards with my breakfast.

8) phone calls from family.

9) a kiss on the cheek from a ten-year old boy who is taller than I am.
10) a trip to the DMV for the second time. This time I got lucky enough for them to take a photo of me with my face blown up like a birthday balloon. Perfect.

11) the joy of wondering what is on the agenda for the evening...after school pick-ups, piano lessons, Irish dance lessons, and Cub Scout Pack Meeting and Boy Scouts...

Funny or Unusual Things My Kids Have Said

March 2012 - D'artagnan was holding our daughter with her head on his chest. He was telling her how much he loves her. "You make my heart sing," he said. "Can you hear it?" Sugar Princess answered, "...sounds more like your stomach."

Aramis has started reading chapter books and is taking them everywhere. We always tell him he will get carsick if he reads them in the car. He and I went to the store. I told him he could bring his book in and read it. I would just put him in the cart. He looked up at me with such concern, "If I read in the cart, won't I get cartsick?"

D'Artagnan was feeling really ill. He could not shake this cold he had. He said, "I think I have pneumonia." A worried Athos looked at him and sincerely said, "Dad, maybe you should go in for an autopsy."

Athos asked, around 8:00pm, if it was correct to say "Buenos Tardes" or "Buenos Noches," because it was getting dark. We went back and forth discussing it for awhile before Porthos just looked at us and said, "I would just say Buenos Aires."

Porthos built a little man out of his Fritos chips tonight. There was a bunch of fritos around the middle. He said, "Look, Mom, my guy, has girdles about his loins."

1st son "Wouldn't it be great if you were born one minute before the start of the millenium?"

2nd son "I used to imagine that when I was in your tummy,
I was naked and sitting in a big chair by a fire, reading a book."

Daughter "I have indian breath." (instead of onion breath)

2nd son "Can I please watch Jane Eyre tonight?"

1st son "The kids at school don't know anything. They don't
even know who Howard Keel is." 2nd son "My favorite songs in order are 1) Copacabana (Barry Manilow) 2) Good Vibrations (Beach Boys) and 3) any by Cat Stevens."
1st son "My favorite songs in order are 1) Fernando (Abba) 2) Baracuda (Heart) and 3) California Girls (Beach Boys)
NOW THAT IS SOME TASTE IN MUSIC!!!!!!
daughter, age 4- (playing Angel Gabriel in the nativity play) "Fear Not! Behold, I bring joy to all the people in the city of David! There's a Savior! He's Christ the Lord!"
